I am happy to come visit your School or Library for an event!

Grades K-6

My author visits are designed to promote critical literacy, offering students mirrors, windows and sliding glass doors to consider the diverse world in which we live. Themes from my books raise awareness around identity and belonging. Dialogue is encouraged around issues of bias, discrimination and stereotypes, which are necessary social justice issues to share with our students today. Each visit can be responsive to the needs of your students. Please feel free to reach out and ask questions!

Setting
I prefer Library or classroom settings for smaller groups since it allows for a more interactive session. Classes can be combined when booking a full or half day author visit.

World Read Aloud Day

“Our Skype session was inspirational to myself and my students — they loved listening to you share your book, A Lion’s Mane, and some of them still talk about how fun it was to ROAR when you asked them to do that, too. We all made connections with your book, especially since the important words that weave through your story mimic the beliefs we hold dear in our school culture.
Many of my students now talk more about becoming writers. In fact, since I share with them my own writing, they actually admonished me after our Skype session ended!
